Choosing to drive after drinking is a dangerous and costly decision. Besides risking an accident and injuring or killing yourself, you endanger everyone else on the road. Consider the financial cost of getting caught driving while impaired. Your first offense can cost you more than $10,000 and will change your life. You will go to jail, you could lose your job, you will pay higher insurance premiums and you will have to live with the label of “drunk driver”. It simply isn’t worth it.

What is Drive Sober WY ?

Drive Sober Wyoming is an initiative by the Wyoming Governor's Council on Impaired Driving to reduce the number of people on the road who are driving while under the influence of an intoxicant. This simple mobile app will remind the user that drinking and driving is not worth the risk. The app includes quick access to texting, or calling a friend for a ride, plus a list of companies that can provide a safe ride home. We have included the Wyoming laws and penalties for driving under the influence as well as information on the real cost of a DUI.

The “Wygcid” is committed to reducing injuries and fatalities on Wyoming roads. Providing a free mobile application is just one step in our initiative to offer education, solutions and alternative transportation to people before they get behind the wheel after drinking. This mobile app contains quick contact to reach up to six friends or a nearby taxi service. Use the Drive Sober Wyoming app to find a safe, sober ride home. If you drive impaired, you will get arrested. It simply isn’t worth it.

We are working through public and private partnerships to continue a downward trend in highway injuries and fatalities. One of our major approaches is to address federally designated traffic safety priority areas. Impaired driving countermeasures and education are two key elements of the Program's priorities. This mobile app serves as an education and a countermeasure to keep the driver that has been drinking from getting behind the wheel.
